It seems like a real blizzard/snowstorm is heading this way for the early hours of Thursday morning but we will still be in the deep freeze until next week according to weather forecast.

Some are forecasting 1-3 inches but other forecasts speak of 4-6 inches!

4-6 is a joke as well. Jeez, what happened to NYC? We get 10” blizzards pretty much every year, sometimes more than once!

People throw the term Blizzard around out of ignorance to hype a storm up. A Blizzard has nothing to do with the snow amount. All a blizzard means is at least 35mph winds sustained for at least 3 hours during a snow storm. You can have a blizzard with 1/2 inch of snow.

Anyway this is a tricky storm to forecast. A 50 mile swing west and you're talking about feet of snow. If it stays east maybe an inch or 2.

This. Notice they always say "blizzard like conditions" to protect themselves. I don't listen to weathermen. They hype things up. Some more than others. The NY1 weather guy is the best in telling it like it is and adjusting his predictions.

You're right, a blizzard has nothing to do with the snow amount, but it's the people who don't realize this that are freaking out thinking we are going to be buried under an avalanche of snow when the forecast I see is for 4".

Blizzard-like conditions can still be dangerous to be outside in, with the wind chill and low visiblity. I hope the commute is not too bad.
