Thermals and a good pair of socks are a must when it is this cold. With a good hat of course. Scarfs can make all the difference too. Winter is a must for the fashionable.
True that helps but I was finding that my throat was hurting from breathing in the cold air even though the rest of my body was warm enough all the extra layers.

Well they are saying it is an arctic blast coming from Canada!
Usually when it snows it is hovering around the freezing mark which is not bad. I find that in the 20s still not a problem but these single digit and below teens temperatures are a bit more difficult for breathing in cold air even with a wool scarf covering my nose & mouth.
I don't know how anyone could like or want this weather, bizarre. When it hurts to just be outside and it's dangerous as well...think of all the homeless people and poor animals too.
I was at Rockefeller center last night with all that gear you mention and I was STILL cold!! I could've used a balaclava and some hand warmers last night.
Some people need to realize that everyone reacts differently to cold. I personally don't think this is cold at all. I hate summers here with a passion. Being able to walk and not be all sweaty is beautiful. The air is much cleaner when it is this cold out (fewer people smoking, less cars spewing exhaust and so on). Either dress in layers or put on a nice warm coat. Me I just wear a coat that is lined and a dress shirt under it and I'm good to go. I don't wear thermals and all of that crap. Real men can take the cold. Besides men have different body temperatures than women anyway, so I would expect most women to be cold. If you're a man, unless you are from a warm climate, I don't see what the big deal is. It's NYC. It's supposed to be cold this time of the year!

Thats because you're from a different part of the world
Give me 90 degrees with 100% humidity I'm good
Sweating is good for you, releases toxins from the body
This grown man has been wearing thermals since Tuesday

Canadian coat brands provides excellent options for this kind of weather. I wear wool hat, scarf, ear muffs and gloves in this kind of weather. Some people r still trying to be GQ and cute. I am just trying to make it to spring unfrozen lol.
