Well, Amazon can't fit into Parkchester, it's a residential complex. But once Amazon staff discovers Parkchester, they will not want to live anywhere else :-).
Let's see... Jeff Bezos went to school to Princeton, and worked his first job on Wall St for about 7 years or so, before starting his little venture in Seattle. Jeff's stepfather who adopted and raised him (and from whom Jeff took his last name) was a Cuban immigrant - they lived in Albuquerque NM, but if they lived in NYC, where would they have statistically most likely lived?
Let's see also... the Bronx is contiguous with Westchester County/Connecticut (where an educated and well-off person can comfortably live, as well as raise and educate a family), and the Bronx is getting 5 or so new commuter rail stations in the unspecified future (which could be hastened by new Amazon headquarters in the Bronx). Incomparably large concentration of tech-strong universities in the area, or within a daytrip distance by rail. Cheapest land in NYC, very reasonable tax incentives.
Let's see also... NYC is STILL the financial-industrial capital of the planet Earth (even though one probably wouldn't guess that by the sample of NYorkers on this website :-).
No, of the US at the most. NYC does not really have that much importance globally.
And the financial sector as a part of NYC's economy has dropped. The biggest source of revenue by now is tourism.
Changing economy, changing regulations, and technology wiped out the majority of financial firms in NYC and also decreased their importance substantially.
I've been thinking for a while that NYC/S should get rid of the Port Authority Bus terminal. That would be a good location for Amazon.
Interesting thought. The area is a little seedy at times, but of course the area would be changed radically by Amazon. Cost of operating here and lack of space might drive them away from NYC, though.

How would people take the bus from Midtown to NJ, or take the bus to other destinations. It’s not like Manhattan is loaded with space, and GWB is too far uptown to have all the buses expand there.
I can easily see them moving to Long Island City on the Newton Creek/East River waterfront and then expanding to Sunnyside Yards eventually. There are also thousands of apartments being built there. I still doubt Amazon will choise the city though.

Or it could be combined. Let Amazon build on top of the new Port Authority Bus Terminal. Lease the space to them.
