This is a sad story. I don't know what happened or what exchanged between these two men. But the claims are that a Florida man knocked on the wrong car window, the driver of the wrong car suddenly punches the Florida man in the face. That punch was so hard, that the Florida man fell ever, hit his head on the pavement and lost permanent consciousness. I hope they find this killer soon before he knocks someone else out.
The cruel devil's advocate in me wonders if there is some missing bits here. Being in town for a wedding I suspect the FL man was **** drunk and not taking no for an answer. Might have pushed the issue of "are you my Uber" a bit too hard and the parked driver fought back. Sad turn of events either way and hopefully the puncher is located.
This sounds iffy. If it was an Uber ride wouldn't he know the license plate #?
Could have have been trying to buy some drugs and there was a dispute on the transaction? There's always more to the story.
The time it happened makes it more suspicious. I generally no longer am outside past 12am and for good reason. Nothing good ever happens between 12-5am. Especially when you are in a city you don't live in. There was a study showing most crime occurs in the early morning hours between 2am-5am. Long Island City isn't that safe to be walking around at night because parts of it are still industrial which means less people walking around.
I think I read somewhere that he was quite drunk. But drunk and knocking on a car window shouldn't get you killed! The driver should have just driven away.
Something is not adding up. If its your "ride" the app shows the license plate. chances are he was drunk and kept knocking on the window or said something that triggered the person in the SUV. Ive been out driving a few times and when I double park have random people open my door and jump in my car in board daylight. After the third time of it happening I lock all doors when driving now.
If Szabo was in Florida and did that, Jones could have just used the "Stand your ground" law as his defense.
Quote:
A local resident came outside amid the ruckus and Szabo punched that person in the face, according to the sources.
Jones then slugged the 35-year-old Szabo in the head causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He later died from his injuries.
Man who threw the punch is too cute to go to jail...Lets hope for his sake there is more to this story.
