Also, i heard that Tyler Perry wants to offer him a acting role so it worked for him in the end.

You have to pay the bills somehow- all actors don't earn big money.

Besides his schedule is probably flexible enough to accommodate auditions.

No, i am saying with his resume and teaching background he should be able to get a nice Drama teaching job. He taught at Columbia, Yale, Pace University, etc.

As made abundantly clear in the media firestorm after that woman's egit actions jobbing actors work various side jobs *ALL THE TIME*. Traditional areas have always been retail, restaurants (mostly as waiters), driving taxis, etc... Any job that offered flexibility to call out and or leave say for a casting call, interview, part/role etc...

The Cosby Show was 30 GD years ago, and Mr. Owens like many minor sitcom, soap opera actors did not become some "A" list mega star. While Mr. Cosby was generous in ensuring cast members received (comparatively) good contracts (including residuals), the show was never in same league as "Friends" or "Frasier" where stars could demand (and get) major money.

What does "Yale" have to do with things? Do you have any idea how many Ivy League grads are busted and or barely middle class? One of them lurks about this forum.

If you examine Mr. Owen's IMB page he *IS* working as an actor. But like many others in this world needs a side gig to bring in money which is no one else's business. Or wasn't until that camera happy lesbian and her "wife" came on the scene.

You do realize there are *TONS* of actors including from famous drama departments such as Yale all looking for gigs as teachers at university/colleges. OTOH just how many such instructors do you think Yale and the rest need on full time staff?

Getting a FT/tenure track position today in any major college/university (much less Ivy League) is not easy. Many if not most rely upon adjunct/part-time staffing so they can keep expenses down.

Was watching an episode of some old television show the other night and did a Google on cast members. At least two are working as acting "teachers".

Teaching for actors is same as dancers; they are a dime a dozen including some famous and or recognizable faces/names. It is what they do to earn money when roles/parts are few.

Heck, even so called "famous" models set up schools or whatever in hopes of capitalizing on their "talent".

And gloats about renting a room and living it up on weekends... LMAO

I'm an Ivy League grad... Keep saying that over and over until you're convinced! LOL!

Mr. Owens is doing exactly what his education and profession have trained him for; teaching and also acting. https://primarystages.org/espa/instr...geoffrey-owens

Unlike Dwayne Douglas Johnson (former wrestler) and countless of other "celebrities" or "movie stars" who have never studied drama and couldn't handle serious acting, Mr. Owens is a classically trained actor who has done everything from Shakespeare to television. His *craft* is acting, which is different than getting in front of a camera based upon one's physical endowments (and or letting various sorts sample the wares).

Sadly for serious actors it is the Dwanye Johnson sorts of the world who rake in huge sums. Many other working actors are just that; same as classically trained musicians who do weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and anything else that will bring money, that is they get up and earn until something they truly love comes along.

The Rock, The people's champ, saw an opportunity and capitalized it. You can't blame him. He has natural charisma and has good comedic timing.

Mr. Owens should have expanded his horizon. (create Shakespeare skits on Youtube, etc) Shakespeare is not being sought after in TV or movies. He also should have kept his body in top shape.

"Owens is the founder and artistic director of The Brooklyn Shakespeare Company. He has taught acting and Shakespeare at Columbia University, Yale, the Adult School of Montclair and Pace University. In addition to developing his own private Shakespeare workshop, he has been a guest teacher at universities, theaters, studios and high schools in the New York metropolitan area. He has also served as a judge for the National Shakespeare Competition semi-finals at Lincoln Center for at least twenty-five years."

I wish him well, but he just wasn’t that good an actor. Right place, right time, that’s it.
