Of all of the topics we discuss here, no one ever talks about how bad congestion is here aside from that thread from the snowstorm. On weekends, the streets look worst than rush hour. Do people here not go out on weekends or what? Even if you take the subways, the trains are packed like rush hour. I know some people here say that they drive. Don’t understand how people aren’t seeing the worsening traffic here all over.

I haven't noticed any difference. There has always been congestion. You gotta know when and where, to or not drive.

Over here in Queens, the trains seem to actually be much less packed than I remember from back when (90s/00s). The trains have become so unreliable that many people simply won't take them off hours. The best time on the subway ironically is in the wee hours, they actually seem to run good then.

The other issue is the lack of traffic enforcement. The Liveries do whatever they want: Double park, stop at streetcorners, block the box, whatever. Every streetlight should have cameras taking the plates of double parkers. The city would be rolling with money.

Uber is definitely amateur. Like it's the first time they ever drove in the city.

This e-commerce era also brings far to many trucks off the highways and onto our streets.

Rule of thumb is if you know there is going to be traffic somewhere, then don't drive there.

Where are you located that there hasn't been a difference and do you drive or take public transportation? Congestion has always been here but it is by far the worst that I have seen it.

I’ve lived in nyc for some 20 years I agree with Pierre. I don’t drive much, but when I get behind the wheel, it seems the congestion gets worse and worse. Not only in nyc but in the nearby suburbs too.
One thing that frustrates me is whenever there’s an accident , and if affected cars moved to an emergency lane, the passing vehicles slow down to look at what happened, a pointless exercise and a cause for slower traffiic

I've noticed subways get pretty crowded on weekends too, sometimes as crowded as rush hours. Didn't used to be like that.

You want no congestion??? Move to Hazleton PA

This is NYC its will always be like this. Whenever people get together, you get congestion.

Its like asking people to not poop. Get real. Or move out.

Any street that has a bus line through it needs to have an extended fire hydrant/bus stop clearance area that dovetails into a delivery or pickup/dropoff area, and then anyone caught double parking or taking up a bus stop whenever in interferes with traffic gets fined whether it’s caught in person or on camera.
