There are plenty of moderate republicans, especially on the local level. They are just being drowned out on the national level by the drama queens. Nobody is going to put a reasonable republican position on CNN or FOX for that matter, especially not when it comes to local pols. In NY, Republicans only come to power when the state and the city are a complete disaster, like in the 70s and 80s. Then they clean it up and get everything in order, but overreach on a couple of issues, and then the Dems can come back and rule again, with their policies that slowly lead to a decline and drain all the efficiency out of the system.

The tragedy of the left is that they can't tell who are the extremists on their side and this always leads to a disaster in the long run if they are unchecked.
On the right, it is pretty much clear cut for everyone - extreme nationalists, ethnic supremacists, torch marches, and even Nazi symbols.
On the left - it is what??? Even hammer and sickle symbol is pretty much normalized, and is *acceptable*. There is no clear policy or other identifier that would signal to Democrats that someone is really truly too far-left.

Liberals, with their crazy tax policies, keep forgetting that of the many, many things rich people can do that poor people cannot, one of those things is...

...LEAVE.

If the annual revenues drop by 2B-3B, it’ll still be one of the highest collections ever.

Why all the gloom and doom?

Every year the pension and other benefits for their employees and retirees continues to soar. In addition the "progressives" have a laundry list programs that they wish to introduce.

Note that the drop is apparently occurring when the economy is still strong. What happens if we have a recession? So yes it is something to monitor unless one wishes a repeat of the 70s. We are less favored in Congress now given that the migration of many NYers to the sunbelt has resulted in less representation.

Canada doesn't want us. When they migrate to the USA, aside from CA they prefer the red states. The corrupt nature of blue states doesn't appeal to them. Too many people wanting benefits but not wanting to be taxed to pay for them. Canadians pay higher taxes than we do and they have a gov't which is worth it. We have high taxed NY and yet NYCHA, the MTA, and a crumbling infrastructure.
