If laws do change new yorkers won't be practicing their 2a rights overnight. The majority of this city is full of left leaning nuts that think guns are the worst thing in this world. They're the ones that voted on the rest of us getting stripped. Personally, I have numerous guns and participate in numerous gun related activities but my toys and hobbies stay far, far away from this city, this state and the state of nj.

Yeah? no. I don't feel the need in Asia nor Europe, and I certainly don't feel the need in the neighborhood I've lived the last 5 years in.

With all due support for the right of normal adult people to carry arms (should they ever need them, but hopefully they won't), I think normal adult people want to enjoy their recreational interests and social connections, and pursue their work, in the city - not spend time duking it out with criminals in the streets. For that, we need primarily a strong NYPD free to do their job properly, and laws that remove criminals from regular human society where they present a danger. Last thing we need is more gangs (bizarrely masquerading as "law-abiding citizens"?!). We already have an armed force in charge of defending the public, and it is called police - it just needs to be allowed to function.

NYC needs the Guardian Angels back at its peak numbers.

They educated many a hoodlum using as Curtis Sliwa often said "Modern Behavioral Modification' techniques.

The NYPD has FAILED to protect the public and not just because of de Blasio.

The police cannot be everywhere, and can only REACT to crimes already committed. They have no ability to protect from assaults. Plus arrested people will soon be out of jail. A woman slaps three women and she is already out of jail.

Upwards of 85% of my waking hours I am carrying a gun, the rest of the time I’m almost never more than 10’ from one.

isnt this technically how mafias originally got their start, or at least used that as an excuse to get started, going back to the Bill the Butcher days?

There are some criteria of normality still needed to give somebody a gun - it shouldn't particularly be an anti-police guy who wants to organize a paramilitary force in NYC :-).
But then you have incidents like this where the NYPD literally fails to save someone in plain view of them in real life threatening danger.
