I see this in North Brooklyn on some side streets. Saw a few beat up old bikes and assorted odds ann ends on blankets or makeshift tables.

Who are the criminals? The people leaving the trash and creating an unsafe and unsanitary street, or the storeowner who is losing business due to the trash left by them?

On point! Good Job...

Who are the true criminals in DiBlasio's world?
People who have contributed to New York paying more
than their fare share of taxes.
That's who.
All the while empowering factions under him to loot the
piggy bank and dispense free cheese as far as the eye can see.
Guess what?
No return on the cheese investment.
The impoverished still remain status quo but now joined by the one time
hard working class as they were finally turned upside down and shaken until
all the coins fell out of their pockets.

East 14th Street in the East Village has become a haven for homelessness and drug use as unlicensed vendors fill the sidewalk peddling trash and broken items, according to local merchants and residents.

Before the pandemic, Immaculate Conception Church, located at the corner of First Avenue and East 14th Street, continuously held their weekend flea market in their parking lot.

But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020 the church was forced to shut down the community event. In the wake of this closure, a homeless community moved onto the block — spreading out blankets and cardboard boxes on which they peddled everything from pirate DVDs to used food items, sometimes even going so far as to sell open seasoning containers and tangled extension cords.
Been a while since I been there. I need to check this out.

This filth would have not been around when Rudy was running NY. It's disgusting and unsafe. I don't understand how some people think this is ok.

Don't know why people are pretending to be shocked at the low quality of what trashpickers sell!

I avoid that stretch because trying to keep even a few feet's distance from others is impossible there, but you don't become a criminal or "filth" just by existing in a place that's inconvenient for others. I wonder why the church can't reopen that front area to make it a more organized flea market again--it's outdoors, after all.

The church parking lot closed, so they can't sell their stuff there. This is only temporary.
So if you had men puking, doing drugs, masturbating and leaving trash behind on the sidewalk in front of your house, you'd be ok with it?

Sometimes I'm really surprised at what people think is ok.
