Nine O'clock is the new midnight! *LOL*

Have noticed city is pretty much dead around 1AM or so. This even on normally hot party/late nights from Thursday through Saturday.

Yeah! This is a HUGE shift that I've noticed here, due mainly to COVID, I think.

If you look on the grubhub or seamless apps, a ton of restaurants close at 9 or 10, now. (some even like 830!)

Pre-COVID, most restaurants would close by 11 at the earliest, and most would stay open until midnight or 1am.

I've noticed some restaurants (moreso in Manhattan) are staying open a bit later and later. I was at Emmett's on Grove last weekend, and they were open until about 12am, and serving until then.

I think as time passes, and we get further away from the COVID era, NYC restaurants will shift back to a later serving food schedule, similar to the old days before the pandemic.

We shall soon see; once warm weather arrives by April or so traditionally people start coming out of winter hibernation to enjoy nights out.

Restaurants by me raised their prices by 30-40% so I don’t even eat out anymore
And they close by 9 pm

Yah you have to retrain yourself. Or have the next day free to lay in bed all day

Crime and homelessness must be a factor for the early close. I blame it mostly on Deblasio

It truly is a bit odd. Am down in Tribeca, SoHo, West Village many nights a week now say around 7PM.

You pass places at that time and they are crowded or packed. Fast forward to about 10PM or 11PM and it's like a bomb went off, same places are empty or emptying out.

Seems like days of leaving work at 6PM, hitting gym or going for a workout, taking a shower and getting ready to hit a bar or restaurant say around 9PM or 10PM is totally not happening. Like writer of article in linked OP you need to check your phone or reach out to place in question before rolling up "that late". Otherwise it just might be you and the four walls....
