Never understood why people listen to music on public transit without headphones. And worse is music with explicit lyrics. You'd have to be a psychopath to do it. Which is why it's so hard to identify a dangerous psychopath since so many people behave like one.
I usually give these folks a few dirty looks but not sure it has any effect. I also have never seen conductors on Metro North train enforce it .
What’s not to understand?
Low Iq, very insecure, has to blast music to prove to the world how free he is and how he doesn’t have a care in the world and there is not a single bastard on the train who will challenge him to a duel.

you're kidding right? There was never a day in the past 50 years you could do that.
I barely have taken the subway this year and already had an incident where I came in, stood near the door, and the person sitting right next to me began blasting music, Tupac, not even some recent rap. He looked well groomed dressed normal so it made it even more disturbing. I felt some people embarrassed for him and I could tell it just made everyone uncomfortable including myself. The music is loud and inherently confrontational that its really no different than a schizo screaming to himself if played in "quiet" place. I transferred to a local train the next stop just to get away from this man and his music.
I really wonder what the psychological explanation is to behave like that. Its insecurity mixed in with a whole bunch of dysfunctional behavior. But now even "music" is a problem; your ears are directly force fed. Do they want us to hear their "pain" . When Nispey died someone was blasting his "music" on a boombox . So SaD RiP NiPseY HusTle
EVERY WEEK in my condo gym this one person comes in and doesn't use headphones and plays Guess What? One time even a PROFESSIONAL TRAINER came in with a portable speaker. Without any care that others might not want to hear your "music".
While Adams and the rest of the people in charge of the city fiddle while the city burns, there's another thing to understand and that is that everyone is now Kitty Genovese. No one will help you. No one will confront someone that is accosting, beating, raping, or terrorizing you. They will look the other way or pull out a phone and record the action.
Back in the day when I was a young person heading into work on the subway, if someone was being accosted or harassed, people would intervene. This was in the 80s. Today, the only ones with a built in meter that says "Get up and help," are too old to be of any use in such a situation. When talking about the failure of the parents who raised the thugs who victimize people, one should not leave out the failure of parents who raised their kids to look the other way or consider it entertaining when they see someone being mugged or beaten. That is a whole other element that contributes to the toilet that this city has become.
These people act like at one time you could eat off the floor in the subways, enough is enough already
