An EMT was stabbed by a maniac on a Queens street Thursday afternoon — in an unprovoked attack that occurred as she went to grab food, authorities said.

Lt. Alison Russo-Elling, a 61-year-old department veteran who was a World Trade Center responder on Sept. 11, 2001, was stabbed multiple times by an assailant at 20th Avenue and 41st Street around 2:20 p.m., police said.

She was on duty at the time and was about half-block from Station 49 on the sidewalk when she was attacked, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said.

Officials did not give details about what sparked the violence, but authorities said the attack was “unprovoked.”

“At this point in the investigation there doesn’t appear to have been any prior contact between them,” an FDNY source said. “He just walked toward her, sped up and then stabbed her to death.”

The 25-year veteran was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition but could not be saved, police said.

That is normally such a quiet, sleepy little residential section of Astoria. Usually nothing at all going on around there. I sometimes go to the Lidl store by there. So horrible.

There was some other crazed guy who went on a deadly rampage in Astoria shortly before the pandemic too.

He stabbed a store owner to death, slashed a woman and set someone on fire.

I use to frequent that section of Astoria all the time. It was an area I once even considered living in myself. It use to be very quiet and peaceful there. May she RIP.

The whole city is going straight to hell.

I heard one early report on the radio that she was intervening in some kind of dispute but that hasn’t been reported elsewhere and it is now said to be completely unprovoked.

I saw the video. It was horrifying. She had absolutely no time to react. NYC is a dumpster.

Pretty soon some unassuming chap like Bernard Goetz is going to step up and shoot a bunch of these predators, only then will we hear about how the violence is suddenly “out of control” and that poor fellow will find him or herself in a sht storm of consequences.

The impoverished neighborhoods that have endured daily exposure and a watered down
" eh......just another day in paradise " attitude for decades couldn't care less as the crime
is bleeding into prosperous neighborhoods because cops are no longer able to contain the
problem thanks to local politicians and an imprisoned police force.

The middle class are not dumb. They know what's going on.
The difference between them and the don't cares is that they can get up and go.

One not need to wonder why the middle class have been slowly migrating out of the city.
Half a million left New York City in one year.........Yeah ,yeah,yeah......Covid ............population decline blah...blah...blah...
Call it what you want..

You ever wonder why only less than a million people have come to New York to call home in the last decade as compared to millions prior.

Not to worry.........migrants will fill the gaps.......many good folks as well as ..........gang bangers..........and other hosts of non contributing members of society..................and no cops to monitor the new recipe of this great melting pot called N.Y.C.

Time to get the .....expletive ..........out !
