I googled what happened to the JC Penney space and Wikipedia says it's a "dead mall"
That mall building used to be Gimbels department store, the competition for Macy's across the street which is famous from Miracle on 34th Street where the Santa tells the kid's mom she can buy the toy there
I’m surprised. I find nice clothes from TJ Maxx and Marshalls for me and my family all the time. Over the years I’ve gotten loads of good sweaters, tops, jeans, pants, dresses, men’s dress shirts, ties, hats, scarves, underwear, etc.
Maybe it depends on the particular store.
Yep, you're right. I went to the stores in Chelsea a few months ago and was quite pleased with their selections. Bought some good stuff there!

Notice 6th ave and Broadway used to run in both directions (now they don't run in any direction lmao):
I am too frugal for Madison and Fifth Avenue shopping. I don't pay retail.
All I have on the UES are Target and H&M, neither of which appeal much to me. Penney's clearance sales could not be beat, typically 50 or 75% OFF for what's left over at season's end.
I've dropped 40 pounds and need shorts that fit but I might be too late.
Geez, I haven't been to Rego Park since a dear friend died 6 years ago, but I'll check out Queens Center with fingers crossed.
For a person so frugal have you heard of A.B.See
I liken it to shopping online at TEMU.
If you want to shop like a billionaire at rock bottom prices find such a store and give it a visit.
I only know of them in Queens. I believe it was Maspeth, Ozone Park and Ridgewood.
Ridgewood A.B.See is no more but.....
There are 2 similar stores in Ridgewood/Freshpond Rd. walking distance from the Freshpond Rd.
M train station under a different name but offering great prices.

I thought it was A&S ( Abraham and Strauss) or maybe an Alexander's.
