The other problem with welfare is dependence. Once they develop that welfare mentality
How is that "welfare mentality" any different from Boeing and Lockheeed-Martin workers who have been on the government teat for the last 80 years? Are they not equally on "welfare dependance?"

Very poor analogy because they are in fact, very different. You even call them WORKERS, which means they pay taxes and through their work, make a product that contributes to the economy and society. The other only takes, barely pay any taxes and their only contribution to society is popping out babies, who we then have to take care of.

It’s impossible to not pay taxes. If they’re not paying taxes by filing, they’re paying them at the stores, restaurants and for other services.
With this being said, are welfare checks taxed? How does that really work?

Welfare recipients are paying sales tax with money handed to them by the government, not from earning and contributing to the economy. They are parasites and the primary source of endless criminality.

I am talking about income tax. Sales tax is like nothing. When the welfare class already get everything free that costs tens if not hundreds of thousands per year (housing, utilities, food stamps, welfare, medical, dental, transportation, internet, phones, etc.), the sales tax they pay comes right from the welfare checks too.

i like how people still think our income tax does anything. it does nothing but go straight into their pockets.

I love how red states are building a whole city with their their revenue while the high tax dem states cant even fix a stop sign.
When was the last time a new highway or bridge was built or a lane was added?

This topic isnt worth debating. Hope a meteor hits manhattan center on. a big one too so water can fill its place.

Floridians for ex, pay 0% in state tax while DeSantis is building a whole city, while you paid 40k a year to Cuomo for renaming the Tappanzee. There is one thing I love about this place. If you tell Floridians there is a hurricane is coming, at least some will evac. If you tell people here that, they will still be in the subway drinking their starbucks coffee. Head in grass. No point debating.

They actually produce something of value. The ability to kill more effectively than ones enemy is valuable. It literally saves American lives. Whether you or I agree with the implement of those weapons that is another matter. Furthermore, Boeing also manufactures civilian aircraft that are integral to the functioning of the economy.

A better analogy would be the multitudes of government workers who literally shuffle papers all day with clear goals.

What does most of the wlefare class in NYC produce besides the ability to consume even more welfare? How many NYCers on welfare get off within 5 years? How many of their children never need welfare?

Most welfare in NYC isn't in the form of cash. Even cash or cash-like welfare isn't taxed.

This is precisely the issue. We have a budget of $100.billion but virtually all of it is dedicated to administrative (do nothing government paper pushers) and welfare.

Quality of life improvements are few and far between for taxpayers. The only city services that are easy to obtain are welfare services. Everything else is full of beauracracy and inefficiency.

Let's talk fairness across the board.

There are talks for prerequisites for future construction in the city and affordable housing .
Here's the catch.

Force developers to set aside construction for the houseless in order to be granted building permits
but not on their building sites.

In other words ,we build here for those with money and build there (elsewhere) for those without money.
And elsewhere is your middle class neighborhood and mine!

Well , if that is the avenue the city wishes to navigate without any say by the communities at risk
then it is only fair that the houseless being forcefully welcomed into our neighborhoods come without criminal records.

and the better question..............

Why won't developers incorporate affordable housing right into their future construction plans
rather than sending construction for the houseless into some one elses' neighborhood ?

Hmmmmmmm? It always was and always will be............... all about the money.
