Manhattan.....

I agree with Rudy's comment
“If you come here and you work hard and you happen to be in an undocumented status, you’re one of the people who we want in this city.

I can't see how any person would disagree having a contributing member of society on board working towards legalization
and not collecting freebees.

Well, I think all New Yorkers will admit that the Giuliani of today is not the same man that he once was.

Interesting quote, thanks.

I've never seen them get physically violent, but we've been cursed out by some at the Atlantic Ave/Bedford Ave gas station (right across the street from the homeless shelter in the old armory) numerous times after telling them no.

Yeah me neither, that's why I was surprised to hear it.

Atlantic/Bedford, thats where I saw them most as a kid, as well.

That's the big issue.

A. You can't legally hire them.
B. If you get a workaround it's $16 an hour minimum.
C. If you do it illegally, and get caught the punishments are STEEP.

This is why we send the work to the developing world. Labor costs in (much of the) USA is incredibly high.
This. Labor unions have made it just as easy for legal labor to not work as it is for them to work. In addition, the stories about those who come into the USA 8 months pregnant or riddled with cancer who get free care is absolutely true as long as you know how to work the system.
Our system is fundamentally expensive at the lower and middle classes. The upper classes don't need to give a ***!!!.

I'm never opposed to immigration but we must support the legal process of immigration. These illegals don't know they're being exploited, they can come here illegally but they will never hold any wealth legally. Making peanuts or cash business eventually retire poor. There's no room in NYC for any new illegal to come here and setup shop, prior gen illegals already vacate the city in large numbers. This is why letting illegals come is a terrible idea because there is no room is such a badly congested overpriced city to house people when opportunities and space is restricted.
