Midtown for sure but I'm not really a big fan of either to be honest.

Lower Manhattan's main eye candy was the WTC, but it lost that and now it isn't nearly as striking as Midtown.

Eye candy? The twin towers were ugly as sin. When was lower Manhattan ever as striking as midtown?

First, I didn't think the towers were ugly as sin.

Second, I never said lower Manhattan was better than midtown prior to 2001, I'm just saying that lower Manhattans skyline clearly couldn't even compare to midtown's skyline after the loss of the WTC, where as if the WTC were still there, the polls may be different.

Keep in mind that we're all people with different opinions.... why question it

Midtown

I find both skylines very pleasing, Lower Manhattan doesn't match the height of Midtown but it has a nice "building symmetry" which I like in a skyline.

About 2012-ish Lower Manhattan has a chance to take the title, I could see pieces of the Lower Manhattan skyline from the window (I'm like 15-20 miles away), I could see both WTC towers (when they stood, I saw them fall too), I could see part of the Brooklyn Bridge too.
