If I were in need of Public Housing I would consider first the several on the Upper-Upper East Side like the Metro North listed above and the Washington Houses nearby...like from 97th into the low 100's along Second and Third.
I've walked by many times and they feel safe and well kept.
Same for the project immediately to the East of the MOunt Sinai Complex.

A big plus will be the EVENTUAL finishing of the Second Avenue subway.

i got my list n i have three small kids n work nights most of the time.. which one will b my best choice my kids father lives in roosevelt houses in brooklyn so i was lookin for something close by but i dont know brooklyn like that n all i hear is to stay in queens..heres my choices
1.surfside gardens
2.brownsville
3.cooper park
4.gowanus
5.lafayette gardens
6. howard
7. langston hughes
8. marcy
9. park rock consolidated
10. pink
11. seth low
12. sheepshead bay...

Sheepshead bay is somewhat quiet although it's out there in Brooklyn. If you want to be somewhere that's kind of safe and close to your kids father, then Cooper park in my opinion is the best choice.
