what are some of the suburban areas in the 5 boroughs. Most I know of are kind of on the outskirts and not very transportation friendly. Are there any who are more transportation friendly?
Eastern Queens in divided between a largley middle-class Black suburban area south of Hillside Ave and a half-white, half asians (asians increasing) North of Hillside. By Eastern Queens, I mean east of the Van Wyck. Jamaica is a dense Low income area centered around the LIRR and many government offices around there. Flushing is extremely dense and asian. Other then that, everything east of the Van wyck in Queens is basically suburbia.
Also in Queens:
Maspeth, Middle Village, and Glendale also form a nucleus of largley White, upper-class suburban areas.
As for Brooklyn, Much of Southern Brooklyn has single family homes. Canarise is pretty suburban and so is Flatlands. Both areas going downhill however.
In the Bronx, in addition to Riverdale, Woodlawn is pretty suburban as are parts of Morris Park and Throggs Neck. Country Club and City island are entirely suburban.
The Caribbean neighborhood north of the Pelham Parkway and East of the Bronx River is almost entirely suburban. This area encompasses a couple of neighborhoods.
Yeah a big chunk of the Bronx is suburbs. Some are nicer than others, but the crappier ones are still suburbs as well. The nicer burbs in the Bronx do not have as much public transportation though.
Flushing is no where NEAR suburban!^^^( well at least not downtown) Anywhere that is not in Northwest Queens, or the South Central parts of the borough (like Jamaica), or that border Brooklyn (like Ridgewood), or part of the of the Rockaways (Like Far Rockway). Other than that, Queens has a suburban feel.
Bronx: Riverdale, and parts of the Northern Bronx
Manhattan: Yeah Right!
Brooklyn: parts that are a good subway ride away from Manhattan.
Staten Island: Massive parts of the Borough, especially the South Shore.

Flushing encompasses a very large area and while the core area around main st/ roosevelt ave are as urban as anywhere in NYC the vast majority of flushing is made up of 1-3 family homes and in my opinion is quite less urban than downtown flushing
Kew Gardens is suburban and it's near the F subway train and Green Line bueses. There's also suburban areas around the Nassau County border line.
