Just what the Bronx needed...SODA! I am looking forward to other such Bronx specialty items as Bronx Cigarettes, Bronx Twinkies, and Bronx wart remover. I am all for supporting local businesses though but I don't drink soda, and I don't think anyone else should either. It is heavily acidic (leave a bit on your car and see what it does) and mostly sugar, the fastest way to rot your teeth and pack on the pounds. I am a proud Bronxite, but I won't be supporting this soda. NYC AND THE BRONX DOES NOT NEED MORE SODA...heard about that soda tax? It's not because we should be drinking more soda!
Of course I am not surprised Ruben Diaz supports it...you can slap the Bronx label on a do-it-yourself abortion and he would be promoting it to Mother Teresa.
There are other real reasons why we should give it up to the Bronx: The most higher education institutions in NYC, the most parkland, the most diverse housing stock, the world renowned Bronx Zoo and NY Botanical Gardens, the epicenter and incubator of NYC's green movement, the best Little Italy in NYC (Arthur Ave), Yankee Stadium, and of course, the people! Hey Ruben Diaz, you think you can put down the case of Bronx Pop and actually do something for the people of the Bronx? Thanks.

Well said SobroGuy. What's next... Bronx grey goose? Bronx condoms? You're dumbing down the Bronx by naming junk food or any "recreation" drug/object that insinuates that Bronx resides are nothing more than a bunch of care-free low-lives that go for that kind of stuff. No thanks
Wow wow wow. Relax guys. Talk about over-analyzing. I think your reading way too much into this. It's just a local soda. The same way they make local beer like Brooklyn Lager. I don't see what's so wrong with that.

I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with a brand of soda. I congratulate them for being entreprenuers. That being said, the Bronx has the highest obesity rates, highest diabetes rates, worst health, and on and on. And so of all the things in the world to exploit in the Bronx..you choose soda?
I get that Brooklyn has a beer, but Brooklyn isn't synonymous with excessive drinking, drunkeness, or plagued by an overabundance of alcoholic problems anymore than anywhere else. The Bronx has serious health problems, and soda is a prime cause. So how exactly does the Bronx Borough President "fight" the health problems of the Bronx, and also promote soda drinking? This is yet another example of his sheer incompetence and pandering for votes.
The Bronx Borough President will now be marketing soda directly to kids, making the Bronx's residents in WORSE health, not better. Ruben Diaz trying to battle the health problems of the borough? What a joke. The soda concept is cute until you actually know what it does to people..cigarettes used to be glamorous in the movies..but what did it do to people?

SobroGuy,
I understand what you are trying to convey. However, you always see the negative side of view. I think you should be a judge or lawyer so you can argue. Lastly, I would like to say that they are planning to do a diet Bronx Pop soda for the people that have diabetes and so on.

Fix that for you. hehe
I do see what you're saying Sobro and I agree with you to the fullest. At the same time, I also really do agree that its pretty harmless and nothing to jump off a cliff over.
