Xerox in Webster has hundreds of those Raymond lifts. I don't think people understand how much manufacturing means and how local venders fit in and also grow. At Xerox there were Carrier chillers (Syracuse), Buffalo Forge fans and air handlers (Buffalo), Goulds pumps (Seneca Falls), and many more local and regional suppliers.

Yes, a lot of these local companies do support each other and may have spun off of other companies to become their own. Sensis SAAB in Syracuse is an example of another company that was started by a former GE engineer and a lot of companies in Upstate NY have a similar story.

I believe Goulds is the only one still manufacturing in NY. And Xerox.

As far as I know/have seen, Carrier still has R&D in Syracuse and Buffalo Forge still has a couple of subsidiaries under different names with facilities in Depew(Howden) and Lockport(Buffalo Machines Inc.). I think the Lockport facility is the only one with manufacturing operations.
My mom worked at a Chrysler/New Process/Venture Gear plant that was taken over by a Canadian company, Magna, which eventually closed the facility down about 10 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Venture_Gear (FedEx Ground is now on a portion of the facility)
With that said, a lot of manufacturing is through smaller companies now, though there are still some bigger companies still active in various parts of Upstate NY.

I remember the New Process Gear building along the thruway. Chrysler used to own it. I've had a lot of Dodge 4x4's with New Process parts
