How smart is your hometown? Here are the new brainpower rankings for Upstate New York communities:

- From the article: "Two Rochester suburbs -- Pittsford and Brighton -- have earned Upstate New York's highest marks for adult brainpower, according to new rankings issued by Business First.
Western New York is home to two of Upstate’s 10 brainpower leaders. Amherst is seventh in the new standings, while Williamsville is ninth.
This year’s ratings cover 430 school districts across the 48 Upstate counties, though the scores have nothing to do with the work of current students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The ratings are geared instead to reflect the educational attainment of all adults within each district, specifically everyone who is 25 or older.
Business First based the ratings on data from the five-year version of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2018 American Community Survey — the current source of official numbers at the local level — as well as the latest earnings data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)."
Districts that are in the top 20 are: 3-Bethlehem, 4-Ithaca City, 5-Niskayuna, 6-Fayetteville-Manlius, 8-Jamesville-DeWitt, 10-Skaneateles, 11-Hamilton, 12-Lansing, 13-Guilderland, 14-Cooperstown, 15-Fairport, 16-Penfield, 17-Honeoye Falls-Lima, 18-Shenendehowa, 19-Voorheesville and 20-Clarence. This also doesn't include the Hudson Valley/Catskill school districts or those that only go only so far like Menands and Lyncourt, which stop at 8th grade. 6 and 8 are adjacent eastern Syracuse suburban SD's; 15 and 16 are adjacent eastern Rochester suburban SD's and 3, 5, 13, 18 and 19 are in the Albany area. 10 and 11 are also in the Syracuse metro area(SW of city and east/Madison County), 12 is a suburban SD of N/NW of Ithaca, 17 is south of Rochester(straddles Monroe/Livingston county line), 20 is an affluent Buffalo suburban SD and 14 is in Otsego County.
