TV, the internet, and booze don't seem to be sedating the masses. Why would legalizing a substance that is already being used illegally change anything?

The internet is far worse for the human mind than any other type of drugs.

I happen to think it's one of Cuomo's few good ideas. Better to get tax revenue than spend it on police enforcement.

Quoted for truth.

They used to say TV rots your brains. The internet, along with the 24/7 cable news cycle, is another world of brain rot.

How active are the people now using pot?...How ambitious are they?

I worked for many years and was exposed to many successful people of all types of industries and professions...Not many smoked pot on any type of regular basis. Maybe once in while when getting together with old friends...But not often at all.

The people that I do know that had always smoked pot regularly - Many certainly did have lifelong careers. But mostly they did not excel in their work.

Most significantly, I never knew a person that regularly smoked pot that was active in public groups...running for school board, running for local office...nor even getting involved in politics at all...(Just what the pro legalization politicians want).

Richard Branson
Numerous Hollywood Stars
Numerous Musicians
Numerous CEOs
Numerous people.

What are you afraid of? Your relative/friend/etc. will have to get a real job cause he cant sell 'dro in the clubs anymore?

How often do they beat up their spouse? Their kids? Their parents?

How often do they drink so much that they black out and do things they dont remember when they finally sober up?

How is it we can have access to a truly deadly substance like booze, but we cant have access to anything milder?

Oh, and let's not forget the 'racism' angle.

The whole reason its illegal in the first place is based on coming down on Mexicans and any other people of color that used.

Of course, this stradegy has worked, and you dont see Mexicans or people of color in America today. [/end sarcasm]

What am I talking about? Check out the Arizona Tax Stamp for Marijuana.

https://americanmarijuana.org/mariju...x-act-of-1937/

The Catch 22 for migrant workers and others: You have to bring the product into the US to attempt to pay the tax - bringing the product into the US without having the stamp is illegal. Prohibition at its best.

People in important high public profile positions like school boards and political office who smoke pot tend to be covert about it. What benefit woould they get from advertising illegal behavior like smoking pot?

People who do not excel, do not excel. Assigning an externality as causal is a fallacy.

That said, any habit can be abused to the point where it interferes with one's life. I have a friend who has burned a lot of bridges at work because of his obession with politics and cultural issues that have been driven into him by a 24-hour news network. No drugs involved, yet he can't help himself but to dig his own grave day after day arguing about culture wars. There all sort of habits that can be abused, but we don't put people in prison for them.
