It looks OK, but is a bit chopped and sharp with the angles. Proportions are a bit off too IMO. Nissan lost my personal business when they dropped the manual transmissions. I really preferred the G37 except for the price, but would probably settle for a FWD GT like car as long as it has a manual. AWD would be nice too. So the only real 4DSC to me in the lower-mid price (under $30K) range is the Mazda 6. I just wish it had a bit more power, but the current setup is OK for regular driving. I was "this" close to buying a Mazda Touring, but decided to buy my daughter a new Rogue that she wanted and get myself a used cash commuter car instead.
I would probably be one of those 10 people interested in a 4 door 370Z if the price was right!
It's an overstyled, blobby take on the Chrysler 200 with elements of every single SUV Nissan has put out recently. Speaks volumes for overall brand identity, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of this identity. What looks good on a Rogue doesn't necessarily look good on a sedan. Just imagine a Sentra looking like this...ugh.
While I'm on the fence with regard to styling (I need to see it in person), this car is definitely a few notches above the rental king Chrysler 200 (at least based on my experience with the last few generations of Maxima).

Maxima has always had a cult following. There would be a surprising amount of drivers who would want this, I'm sure... Maybe not quite as choppy as a 370z, but somewhere along those lines.
Have you seen the BMW i3? It's downright hideous in every way imaginable. The 3, 5, 7 series design mantra of same sausage different size is getting awfully dull as well. At least my 2007 530i looks distinct when compared to the 3 and 7 of the same year.
Drove by one today .... absolutely hideous in person.
Too bad Nissan never got the Maxima right after 2005.
agree 100%!
My second Maxima was a 2005 (loved my 1998 one) and at the time I got it, I thought this is the only sedan I'll ever get.
Needless to say it was the last one I ever got (or considered) since...

It's awful. I saw one in my neighborhood a few weeks back and it looks even worse in person than it does in pictures. Just tons of lines/shapes that have no business being adjacent to one another.

Sorry, but the 09-up looks way better. More aggressive looking and less like a bubble than the '05.
Nissan / Infiniti have been lost for a while. Both used to make some really great, clean designs. It all started to go downhill with the 2009 Essence concept. It's like what Chris Bangle did to BMW a decade ago...superfluous curves and lines just for the sake of it.
I can't stand the C-pillars on either brand, or the gaping fish face that Infiniti has adopted.
There are some aspects I like of Infiniti's new design direction, but they never seem to be able to piece them together into one coherent design.

The 09-15 are basically less flashy more expensive Altimas.
Again why buy one when you can just get a Altima.
Granted the 2016 redesign should make Maxima worth it again.
