Me! Like you, I recognize the need but I'm just really really bad at it. As in "oh, that's almost a week away, I don't want to talk or even think about it right now".
Just to be clear, we're talking about *social* life, not financial or major life decisions.
Well said, I agree that's the best approach. But full disclosure: even making general social plans for the next night makes me uneasy. Hard to explain, it's just how I'm wired.
I had an ex-friend who was like that. He had no problems cancelling out on me at the last minute (or not showing up at all) which is one reason he is in my past..
No problems for me to plan well in advance, especially since what I like to do mostly involves getting a ticket to an event.

I do not understand what the big deal is to plan something.
