In a nutshell, I moved to Northern California due to a family situation, hated much of it since arriving, even tried out Portland OR and realized I should have never left FL. The job economy anywhere out west is worse, its more expensive, homeless everywhere, people are tougher to meet. Its unbelievable. CA is terrible unless you know nothing else and grew up in this god for saken state that you can brag about. I will wipe my ass with a CA republic T shirt once before I leave. I hope I get to do that at least once. This place has disappointed me to the highest degree and I got stuck here along the way and now I can't wait to return to FL. I gotta go around XMas, new years though. Has anyone ever moved to CA from somewhere else and found it so wasn't like what many say about it? And its actually far worse?

It sounds like CA wasn't the problem....but that it is somewhere that you do not feel comfortable and you are going to be miserable anywhere else. Some people are like that....but I'd cut out the negative crap and just focus on what you enjoy about Florida and work to get back there.
To the OP: O.K., you don't like California, but tell me what is good about Florida. You couldn't pay me to live in Florida - stifling heat and humidity, bugs galore, hurricanes, senior drivers going too slow and clogging up the roads. (I am 70 and I can't stand senior drivers; I drive the same way I drove when I was 20).
OP- you don't need validation from others about what you're feeling. If you don't like where you are living, just go to where you feel more comfortable. It's a big, very diverse country. Not everyone is going to like the same things about any particular area. Go where you can be happy. Don't worry about what others think or what they did or are doing. Good luck

I have always wanted to visit California. I even told my husband we should move west. But I do love Florida; I live in South Florida. I visited South Texas for two weeks and I promised never to complain about Florida.
This is hilarious. People complaining about California is like people complaining about Florida. They are 2 of the biggest states in the country. If a person can't find a part of either state they like, they wont find anyplace anywhere.

I'm not a huge fan of San Fran and environs as a place to live (Love to visit, however). That being said, if you say half the things in person that you do on this message board, small wonder you aren't meeting people. The negativity oozes from every pore. I'm a pretty easygoing guy, but if someone starts to take swipes at my town, then I don't want anything to do with them. What's more, given how Florida was ground zero of the financial meltdown, I'm not sure why you consider it to be the Elysian Fields, the land of opportunity.
It's been my experience that if you're unhappy in one place, you'll be unhappy in every place. It's just a matter of time before it happens.
