My cousins range from 92 to 2 years old. They are all my cousins, although I do realize that some are first cousins, others are second cousins, and yet others are various degrees of separation cousins.

I do sometimes refer to my first cousins' grandchildren as my "grand-cousins", though I don't have a special name for my first cousins' children.

Just wish I could see them more frequently...

Folks, your first cousin's children are NOT your second cousins.

Someone upthread posted a helpful link. But I would guess that most people didn't click it. So here's a small portion of the table featured in that link:

Nice diagram.

I simply just consider them 'cousins'. I don't have to go with the whole "once removed/twice removed" thing.

I only have four cousins (adults), & between them all they only have three children (also adults). So I call them all cousins--

My first cousin once removed. Some are closer to me than me.

Pretty much - cousins are addressed as brothers and sisters, hence why their kids call us aunt/uncle.

Really - you know every culture in the world and how they perceive relationships. The thread wasn't about actual relationships, it was asking people what they considered the relationship. My cousins kids call me aunt and this is the way it is in my culture (Indian).

They're actually the only small kids in my family aside from some other cousins' kids on my mom's side, most of whom I've never met and have barely seen their parents in the past 17 years.

I consider them my cousin's kids since that is what they are.
Some I have never met and others I have seen in years.
