Make a list on a piece of paper folded down the middle from top to bottom. The title for the left column is Pro. The title for the column on the right is Con. Write down all the pros and cons of continuing this relationship. If one outweighs the other in a way that is significant to you, you will know what to do. These lists should be a part of every important decision you will ever have to make.

I wouldn't want advice from a car-less person. You also mentioned she has kids? Where's the father? Can't he babysit? Sounds like you've grown and now are maturing to see her character for what it is. I had a friend like this and it only escalated. Ended up telling her no all the time and slowly avoided all phone calls. It's ok to clip this one and/or create massive distance. Realize we outgrow people and relationships.
