This may bring us back to the personal crisis theory, whereby he friend & her hubs are having problems (she wasn't home when the OP cruised by, though she may have simply been out running an errand), or the friend fell ill, and the couple upped their privacy settings for the time being. Barring the extreme theory--foul play, that is.

The FB part makes all the sense in the world. If that person is a flake and just stands people up on plans does she want others posting that?
