The legislation has under discussion a bill to compensate victims of forced sterilization. It has bi-partisan support as reported here: N.C. may compensate sterilization victims

I was somewhat surprised to read of "bi-partisan" support, thinking Republicans would opposed the spending. About 2,000 living people would be affected, and would have to apply for compensation.

It would be very difficult politically to not support some form of compensation for the state's actions in this.

As a strong conservative here, I think its the least we could do. What was done was shameful to the fullest.

As for the OPs remarks about the republicans, why would you say that? That would be no different than me saying, "I would have thought the democrats would have opposed it unless they could get gay marriage added to the bill."

Compensation may be sending ther wrong message. As a species we all need to change our thinking to reduce the over population of the world. We need to start teaching the advantages of sterilization from a young age. We also need to stress the quality in the raising of children and not the quantity. If there was a wrong I do not object to compensation, just the implication that sterilization is wrong.

Government did nothing; it was those in government and their co-conspirators who committed these crimes. Men and women collectively or individually were harmed by other men and women not some fiction, not by some concept we ignorantly refer to as government. All those sociopaths connected with this atrocity should lose all their property and go the prison for the remainder of their natural lives.

This is socialism at its best - sig heil comrades
