If Romney had been elected he would have brought 350,000 jobs to NC, effectively reducing the unemployment rate 89%. How do I know this? Because the ad said so.

I wish one of those jobs added included my wife, we are fast running to the end of her severance.

But that doesn't take into account population growth, which is happening even faster, making those jobs more and more competitive.

When you think about it, the top 3 have much greater populations than NC too. Not too shabby.

Job growth:
Texas +355,600
California +311,800
Florida +139,500
North Carolina +84,500

Population:
Texas - 26.1M
California - 38.0M
Florida - 19.3M
NC - 9.8M

While I agree this number seems like good news, maybe the thread isn't as popular as you'd think because NC comes in 34th out of 50 in the U.S. Poverty Rate measures. Yeah, I guess there are jobs ... but are they GOOD PAYING jobs?

Also, while parkman found, and compared the new job numbers to population, I BELIEVE the question asked by Francois was, how does it compare to population GROWTH. NC's population is growth rate ranks 13th out of 50 (not including DC), so job growth, while still good, is not really a good indicator of how well the people are doing, financially.

Still I agree, this IS a "good news" piece, and they are rare these days. So I am happy to add my post and make the thread a bit longer.

Let's hope there are more, and better economic news pieces for our state in the not-too-distant future.

We're too busy forwarding this information to our new governor to demonstrate that we don't need Art Pope's crony capitalism to stimulate growth in our state.

The reason why The Rep. felt that they had to win. The demographics of the entire nation are in the trend for job openings.

Right now the Repub. in Raleigh are doing there best to stop job creation and moving the state back to the 1850's. Mr Pope wants poor people so his business can improve.
