It included all hours worked at home and on the job. Some people work 10 hours a day, six days a week. The reporter did interviews with different workers in different jobs. Nobody has it easy. Some just complain more than others.

I also saw the mess that Whitmann Started.
It's just sad to see it play out again. The elevated property taxes hurt people on fixed incomes.

To make it worse, now it's fashionable to trash people working in public service jobs. Those people used to be treated with respect whether they were teachers, police, firemen, librarians, court personnel. . .people who do that should be ashamed of themselves, but they aren't. Oh well. . .I guess it's a sign of the times.

People have been making predictions like this about the Sun Belt for the last 50 years. Yet there is no sign we are becoming like the rot in the North East & Rust Belt.

This mentality that government knows best, and hence through it's power of violence can take from one group and give to another (what taxes are) doesn't work here. It's socialism. This is why it's different. What you are seeing in the NC General Assembly and other Southern states is a needed correction to move the state back to a sound economic footing. They have rejected the policies of Obama and the tax & spend Democrats.

There are some wild ass theories and opinions being given here about how the Republicans are going to doom the state to Armageddon, but in my opinion, if that is to come to some states in the USA, NC won't be on the list. It will be happening in places that are colored Blue and never change.

I will point out the NC GA was elected by the people. If the current group of politicians go too far, it's always in the people's hands to change it back. For people who don't like it, there are plenty of places to move to where the government will take all your money and the decide what's best to do with it.

I haven't seen one person say "government knows best". Again, this teaparty hyperbole and all the fake outrage about nonexistent issues detracts from some of the *real* positives of the republican party.

Government is necessary. Taxes are necessary. You and I may disagree on what should be funded, and with how much money, but I've never paid my taxes because of the "power of violence", whatever the hell that means.

I see a lot of your comments seem to blame the Dems of NC for the effects of a global financial crisis. A crisis caused in no small part by a lack of regulation on the banking industry and this backwards ass mentality of "get the government out of the way and the economy will be fine". Yeah... not so much.

They didn't make my daughter memorize times tables last year. They taught her multiplication. Truthfully I was a little down on this method at first, but I think she has a better grasp of what is happening rather than just recalling. Overall I'm against Common Core, but I do think they do the math right.

I know it seems silly that the kids need to follow these procedures to get the same answers in multiple different ways, but I think they are better off for it.

I forgot what thread this was when I responded....way OT

Kitty- Its already happening. Property taxes are going up, the Repub. in the GA are putting bills out limiting local populations to a set sales tax amount. Yor reply is just plain and simple rhetoric and you do not see the problems caused by Republicans who think they can cover over shortfalls in tax revenue. Those shortfalls only multiply upward and very quickly. The 450 mill. shortfall will be getting larger each year. When you move tax dollars, from one line item to another, around you are not solving the problem.

A lot of people saw this before and we are seeing it again in our new home state.

Waldo, this is nonsense & in my opinion you don't know what you're talking about.

First off, Christie Todd Whitman was a Republican governor in NJ who replaced Democrat Jim Florio. Florio passed a tax reform that was punitive to certain groups & was voted out for Mrs. Whitman. She promised to fix the taxes & we ended up with something extremely similar to what was done by the Republicans in NC.

We have watched this scenario before. NJ is a purple state. If a Republican is dumb enough to run on certain issues he or she will go down in flames. That doesn't make the state blue.

You have 3 people who have seen this scenario before saying that the tax cuts are toxic. It's the cheaper property taxes that attracted these 2 companies.

I think that your tirade is laughable. The Republicans in Raleigh haven't been satisfied with messing with the taxes. They have gotten into people's bedrooms & messing with municipalities & the counties. Many are in districts that are so gerrymandered that they are running unopposed.

You're welcome to your opinion but you don't have the facts about what we're talking about.

You are correct it is an opinion, but I don't seek to change your opinion.

Let us not forget your first post in this topic was to give us a wild theory about McCrory needing votes in Charlotte. Data proved that wrong and you dropped it without comment when shown the facts.

I don't care about NJ.

By your own account, it's already happening here... see your various rants on residential gone bad, i.e. culdesacs, strip malls, taxes, et al.

The fallacy of "government knows best", "socialism", "Obama and the tax & spend Democrats", etc is laughable... These conservative and pseudo Libertarian rally cries are good for social media, but that's about it. No teeth. This GA, like previous GAs, doesn't represent the people... they are selected for us because powerful special interests give them to us. Because special interests know best. Plain and simple. Being OK with that because "it's the GOP's turn" fails at the core of your argument. We don't really get to choose... I have a problem with that regardless of who is in control - I don't pretend it's OK because it was never OK regardless of who invented fixing voting precincts.
