That income growth is spurred by the metro areas where there are companies paying a lot of money for talent. Rural NC has missed the boat, unless some of the highly paid buy a second home in their county.

Some people just live in a different world....

The only thing that's been going gangbusters is Wal-Mart & they did an across the board pay increase, so that plays to your concept that pay is increasing, Pat.

While HB2 hasn't significantly diminished overall growth at all, it is true that all policy has economic implications. The current NC government clearly understands and has done an amazing job enticing individuals and businesses to relocate here. Specifically, over the last 3 years, the legislature and governor have:

1 Paid off $2.75 billion in federal debt
2 Saved taxpayers $280 million per year in penalties
3 Significantly reduced both personal and corporate income tax rates, while creating a budget surplus
4 Minimized tax waste on film and unemployment subsidies (which helped push the employment rate to its highest level in eight years
5 Stood up to federal executive overreach by fighting gross reinterpretation of standing law
6 Initiated increases to teacher pay to the highest level in the entire Southeast, while still pushing for more school choice, vouchers and charters
7 Continued the transformation of North Carolina into one of the top 5 states for business with the fastest growing GDP in the country, allowing local businesses to rise an average of 21 spots in the Forbes 500 (over the last year alone)
8 Proven that we can continue our rise as a top 5 solar and, potentially, wind energy producer in the country without huge levels of government funding
9 Corrected legislation that inadvertently forced businesses to allow cisgender males into female-only lockers and showers
10 Protected small businesses from potential frivolous lawsuits
11 And, as noted, ranked us in the top 6 states for individual income growth

I'm sure I can think of more. Give me a minute

Do you work for the Governor? Serious question. Cause if you do I have a message you can pass along to Pat:

We love hog, but we don't roll in the mud with them. You blew it Pat.
