Raleigh in no hurry to build 40 story towers as evidenced by the slow approvals process.

Already mentioned but a progress update:

Major change coming to Downtown Raleigh's skyline. Site review plans have been submitted for ONE TWO ONE Fayetteville, a '32-story' mix-use office tower plus a 7 story parking deck just a stones throw from the State Capitol. This will be Kane Realty Corporation's second Downtown Raleigh project to be greater than 30 floors. Smokey Hollow is the other project.

Important to note that this property is already zoned for 40 stories/500 feet so it will not face the same scrutiny as the Smokey Hollow project.

Printful, a custom, on-demand printing and warehousing company, is opening a new, 53,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte that will bring more than 100 jobs to the area. The company, which has fulfilled more than 12 million orders since launching in 2013, will host a grand opening ceremony on Oct. 8 to break in the new operation. Led by founder Davis Siksnans, Printful was recently ranked on Inc. 5000’s fastest-growing companies list, placing 564.

Is it illegal to build a tower in Raleigh that is not boxy? Can that city build some towers with spires, domes?

You don't see many 10 story buildings with domes.

Looks like MLS is a go for Charlotte as long as the city approves the requested $$ from Tepper, which I expect to pass by a landslide.

I was talking about the lack of vertical variety in Raleigh overall, not just this project. Winston-Salem just called....

That's a fair statement. I just thought it was funny to imagine that most recent project with a dome on it.
