I'm thinking of buying a home in the Winona Lakes community in East Stroudsburg. My husband and I have no kids and have never had a weekend home but have recently gotten the itch to leave NYC. My question has 2 parts. What are the pros and cons of Winona Lakes in East Stroudsburg and if I find I don't like country living would I find a renter easily and for how much for a 2-3 BR home?

Im sure you'll be able to rent it ..

List it with Sec 8 Housing and get 3/4 of the rent from Uncle Sam , The Tenants pay the difference ..

I don't want to make the plunge into buying an expensive home and regretting it so I'm trying to minimize my risk and buy a less expensive home that I can rent out with some ease. I can always upgrade if it works out, can't scale back if it doesn't.

Section 8 pays 3/4 of the rent , ( say the rent is $1200 a month Section 8 will pay $900 of it , the tenant pays the difference $300) This way you WILL get at least 3/4 of the rent every month

I have rented to section 8 and had great results .. It s true that Some abuse the system and become deadbeats from day one .. But you get to interview them.. You get a feel of who they are ,,

When you list with section 8 you go onto a list ,, The people who are approved will be givin the list and they contact you directly , .There is a inspection needed but as long as its a normal place you'll have zero problems .
