Traditionally my family has always done hero's for Christmas eve. I make sauce, meatballs, sausage and peppers etc. For most of my 22 years of marriage we have gone to someone else's home for " the 7 fishes"! Well this year we will not be going anywhere on Christmas eve. So I am looking for a good place to get fried calamari, and all the other seafood. I want it prepared by someone else...any ideas? Anyone have an opinion on Rossi's in Old Forge or if Catalanos in west side does it? I am open to any and all suggestions in the Scranton Metro area but not as far as Wilkes-Barre...

I was under the impression that Italians calling it sauce or gravy depended on which region of Italy one hailed from. Sicily or the rest of Italy! LOl... in my "old" neighborhood some Italian Mamas called it gravy, but the majority of the Italian Mamas...called it sauce.

In the Philadelphia area, no older Italian says sauce, but younger ones do.

I'm 47, and heard gravy alot more when I was younger than I do now. My mom was one of 13 kids, raised in southwest Philadelphia. Ir was gravy, period. And my friend's moms said gravy too, so it wasn't just a family thing.
I'm going to do an informal poll of some folks from my generation from the Philly area, to see if it's like I said it is.
