I am 30 and me and my finance are considering moving to penn estates. We live currently about 20 minutes south of the stroudsburg area in a small town in northampton county. Houses seem to be more expensive in this county as opposed to monroe. I look at penn estates and the house are so nice for the prices I see compared to the houses in Northampton county. The same priced house would be a old beater home down here.

Also her parents live in the poconos and when traveling up there we see the influx of NY, NJ traffic and lifestyle that seems to have consumed that once great area.

My questions are what follows

1. Why are some of these penn estates beautiful home so cheap? Is there a reason or just because the cost of housing in that area is just like that?

2. I see conflicting posts on here about the quality of people living in penn estates. Some saying it is not bad and others saying it is turning ghetto.
I don't care about the color of skin that lives in the estates but I dont want thugs or wanna be gangsters walking up and down the neighborhood like I see in stroudsburg. I also don't want mean spirited people that come from NY and NJ along with the crime

I am looking for a nice quiet peaceful place to raise a family without this new age yo yo yo ebonics crap where everyone drops the "N" word to each other that I see when playing in the adult basketball leagues I play in now.

Mod cut - removed a portion of posters rude post.

Instead why not try and "learn" the new culture and lifestyle of the locals and adapt. If you can't do that then go back to NY and stay.
First post and you decide to sound like a Butthead. Nice job !!

I'd take your finance elsewhere if I were you.

Most of us left there..........It became a place we could not accept.
People following you thru the gate, on your bumper, lights OFF........scarey
Full of inner city people, who do not follow any rules....
Beautiful homes, Oh yes...........place..........OH no!
In its day it was a paradise.....it sure was....but, not now.
Not for any sum of money....

Hello

I am looking to purchase a home in Penn Estates for vacation use... I am a little weary about the taxes, association dues and the fact that the house has been on the market for 2 years... I have small children and a lot of small nieces and nephews... i am a moderately liberal person and i like all people no matter the color of there skin... HOWEVER i do not want to feel uncomfortable in an area that i will be in. Listening to all the remarks its hard to decide i really love the house but will it be safe??? It is a 24 hour security system isnt that a good thing?? PLEASE be honest with me its the best policy.... Please respond ASAP.... thanks so much!!

vacabuyer, I would suggest starting your own new thread instead of attaching yourself to this one since the OP seems to have started off on the wrong foot and from the lack of responses, no one wanted to help him out.

Do yourself a favor; don't buy in Penn Estates.
