Generally, there's not a lot of traffic on 380 in the morning/afternoon since it's such a rural area. Traffic between Scranton and Tobyhanna is solely people working at the Depot or Sanofi Pasteur. The drive can be a little tricky in the winter but it's generally not bad (and I'd take it over a similar distance in NJ any day).

The North Pocono school district (which covers Moscow) was nice when I was growing up in PA in the 1990s and from what I've heard it hasn't had the problems Pocono Mountain or East Stroudsburg districts have had to the south. Dunmore is generally also a nice area to live in as is the Mid Valley outside of Scranton.

You also could go south of Monroe county and drive north from the Allentown/Easton area but the prices are much higher in the Lehigh Valley than in Scranton (and unless you have someone else in the family working in NJ or Philly, it wouldn't be worth it.)

My husband works at Tobyhanna as well, and we are looking to move within a 30 minute or closer drive. Does anyone know if there are any areas with a quaint town feel to them. By quaint, I'm looking for safe, clean, nice to walk around, things to do, not derelicts hanging out on the corner, etc... We have a daughter who will be starting h.s. next year.

Go anywhere north or west of Tobyhanna and you'll be fine. Places like Tobyhanna, Mount Pocono, Stroudsburg....avoid at all costs.

If schooling is important for kids, teacher/student ration, grades, etc. I would suggest Clarks Summit (Abington's). It may be a bit longer drive (approx 40min to the depot). My family lives in Clarks Summit and been working at the depot for 5yrs and wouldn't change a thing.
