The question we should be asking is "why the hell is our current stadium in such bad shape, Who let this happen?" Not "where should we build the new one?" My house is around 100 years old and in very good shape. How is it possible that a multi-million dollar, concrete and steal structure like PNC Field is already falling apart after a mere 19 years? and Who's head should roll for it?

Bob Cordaro. He's the moron who gave away the baseball franchise to Mandalay (below market value, I might add). If we still owned the franchise, Mandalay would have no leverage to demand a stadium. Even if we never ended up with the Yankees, so what? Even with the Phillies moving their affiliation out of the area, we still OWNED a AAA franchise and were guaranteed a team. It just probably would have been a different affiliation than the Yankees.....most likely the Mets or Orioles. Which would have been OK with me...at least those teams would not have been whiny and demanding like the Yankees. Plus, now that the novelty is worn off, the Yankees aren't drawing any more people than the Red Barons did. Attendance dropped by over 100,000 people from last season.

Then why do we or they even need a new stadium? What do they think, a new one will bring more people? What happens when that novelty wears off.

I don't think we need a new stadium. I just said I'm only opposed to a new stadium if it involves taxpayer funding. If the Yankees/Manadalay build it themselves, then I'm OK with a new stadium.

Dont necessarily know that that is true. We need the yankees more then they need us.

But taxpayers building a stadium for a corporation is like me paying to build your house. It makes no sense.

Why?

The Yankees novelty has worn off...attendance is down over 100,000 from last year. The Yanks are now not drawing any more than the Red Barons did.

They had already looked at the old Scranton Lace property last year, and decided against it, but at least they are looking at Scranton as an option. All I can say is that if they DO stay in the current stadium, it needs probably millions in upgrades to make it another ten years, so one way or another something is going to happen.

In either case, I would like to see a few changes, namely to showcase the trolley more. I've suggested they extend the track only another couple hundred feet to allow it to travel along the top of the out field wall so that it can be seen during games; a new stadium would hopefully be designed to allow the car to arrive right in the main entrance, and track laid in order to get it there. I would also like to see Coney Island weiners instead of the current offerings - even a small stand there would do phenomenal. One of the things I have complained about, the high prices, is the direct control of Mandalay. Gress wanted to bring back the .50 hot dog nights, and they were ordered not to.

I just can't believe that whatever problems there are at the stadium can't be fixed. Look at Fenway Park and Wrigley Field.....those places are still holding up...Fenway was built in 1912, and Wrigley in 1914.

Lackawanna County Stadium is still a nice place to watch a game. It doesn't appear structurally unsound to me. If there were apparent structural problems, why did they build a state-of-the-art clubhouse that rivals most MLB clubhouses just a couple of years ago, as well as the new party deck?

Replace the tacky orange seats with green or blue, install a better drainage system, pave the stinking parking lot already, and play ball!
