Anyone know about the quality of the water in the Pocono lakes area??? Just wondering if I need to buy bottled water or not. Anyone had there water tested??? thanks PM

Yes, you can have the water tested. Rite Aid used to supply vials to check the water. They charge for the test but it is well worth it. If there is a lot of iron in the water you may require a water softener.

What lakes specifically?
Here where I live in The hideout, we can get the water test results from our Sewer and Water company. Our water qualifies in quality, to be bottled, yet I still see out of towners stocking up on bottled water at the grocery store. I'm sure it is different where ever you go. Pipes could also be lead, and then it really doesn't matter where your water comes from.

Hello

I joined this forum because I was concerned about groundwater contamination. I recently visited the Pocono's area
and fell in love with it..however, we would be retiring from the southern tier of NY and would be very concerned that
Fracking would be coming to this area also. My husband does not want to buy property here because of this concern. Any feedback??
