There is a pretty big black ferral cat that lives around by us on the farm I am guessing.........
But, the Bobcat we saw.......that was an exact match to the photo I brought up on line immediately after getting home.....That fur that goes around the face a certain way. The longer back legs...and the tail.........It was running across the road, at dusk. Not all that far from the campgroud up by the race track. I havn't saw a mountian lion, nor a rattle snake. I am thinking the snake is going to scare the life out of me.........I just know I'll see one.
We saw a lot of bears in Penn Estates......some small, some huge. That was always a treat.

I saw a rattlesnake last year on 402 near Pecks Pond.

It was big. I screamed when I drove by it! LOL. I felt silly - but I drove past it (it was in the road) and as soon as I realized it was a rattler, I was terrified. But I went back and took some pictures of it (had my camera with me.) If it weren't for the pics hubby wouldn't have believed it. I'll see if I can post them.

Well a lot of people swear they've seen cougars in PA, but no one yet has got a photo, scat, tracks or a dead one by the road.

What a strange feeling to see something you just haven't encountered before. I came home and looked it up. It said if you see "one" in 50 years out in the wild........that would be the odds.
So I am not expecting to see anymore.........thats it for me.
I've seen two bocats in my yard in the last 6 years-I even got a bunch of crappy photos. I've heard quite a few story of cougar siting but never any proof. I find it hard to believe animals that size would leave no sign behind (except for Bigfoot-that I believe).

I have a question. Is keeping exotic cats allowed in PA? I know we have a few people with permits to keep big cats on LI, but only once that I can remember did one escape. Not sure if they ever caught it or not though! If it's allowable, some of these sightings might be of released or escaped pets. Or even worse, perhaps animals released specifically for hunting.

That's pretty much the theory-if people are seeing Cougars, chances are they are escapees. Yes people are allowed to own exotic pets/animals in Pa with the right permits. A month or two ago a serval, that escaped from its owner, was shot in chicken barn near Philly.

years and years ago a family in South Canaan (near St. Tikhon's ) kept a lion in a big chain link fence enclosure.

I don't know what ever happened to it. We used to drive by it every so often.
