I'm going to agree with Phillies on Rossi's. The place is amazing. Great food and a very nice atmosphere. I didn't have time to read this thread completely so I don't know if anyone suggested the Alora Room in Peckville. That place is also very good. I took a date there once and she was very impressed by the ambience and the food, primarily Italian was excellent!

Villa Maria sounds like a good choice.
We went to Gilly's on South Main ave in Scranton (Westside) not too long ago. The food was good, not great, but the prices were a little high. They dont' have a kid's menu either, not you're issue but I have 2 young kids & had to split a meal between them. That can be a problem since they rarely want the same meal.
Ipanema Grill on North Main ave Scranton was very nice. My husband & I went there for lunch once & dinner once recently. Their buffet is very small but the Rodizio was very good. That is a Brazilian meat feast. The steaks are very good too. It wasn't busy (Sunday eve) so we got very personal service. It's probably more of a place to go to after dating a little while. The sangria is wonderful! We got a HUGE pitcher for $16. We liked it so much that I'm making some this weekend.

Sidel's has Italian food, moderate prices. One of the nicer and cozier (more romantic??) places inside that I've seen-- ask to sit in the front room, where the bar is.

Faccia Luna is a wood oven pizza place in a former bank. Nice interior as well, though more open and bright. The Erdinger Hefeweisen on tap will keep you good company if the date doesn't go well.

State Street Grill in Clarks Summit.

I've been there before a few years ago. This is definitely a good suggestion.

Micky D's in Clarks Summit

Sorry, John, but we don't need the picture menus, thanks.

Whistlers

Oh where is this? I've been to Whistles (hardly a date place haha, more like a pickup place). But I haven't heard of Whistlers.

Smiler's in Dickson City

Interesting. How's the food? I went to the bar a few years ago. Nice place.

Brixx in Downtown Scranton

Gonna nix this one. I'm not really enamored with the place.

Thai Thai in Downtown Wilkes-Barre

Perhaps not that restaurant (Wilkes-Barre a bit far), but the Thai idea sounds fantastic. Why not go for something different on the first date? It'll give us something to talk about!

Cooper's in Pittston/Scranton (Although the food/service is often sub-par)

I like Coopers for drinks, but as you said, not so much for food. And she was just there, so I'll have to nix this one.

Kildare's in Moosic (Although this place is often TOO loud!)

Although this would be a great after-dinner place, and it's practically my home base, and we're both Irish (okay this sounds like a good selection, doesn't it?), I'm gonna have to choose a different place. To me it's too open, too cold. Ambience isn't really right, even though the noise levels are.

a movie at the old Dietrich Theater and dinner at Twig's Restaurant
Rossi's in Archbald
Elegante in Honesdale
The Castle, a dinner theater place in Dallas?
Alora Room in Peckville

These are all good selections for future dates, but a bit too far for the first one.

Carmens at the Radisson, besides they got the rooms right up stairs

I'm not proposing to her, jeez.

Villa Maria in West Side

Good choice! I've never been there but the menu looks very nice.

Ragnacci's in Dunmore
Harbor House
La Trattoria on Moosic St.
Fascia Luna
Sidels in N Scranton
Bistocchi's in Dunmore

Can anyone tell me more about these?
Hey this list is really good! I am printing it. Next time hubby and I have date night, I'd have a bunch of choices where to go !
