I know the news weather folks have been saying we had similar back in '03 (I think) - but I honestly can't remember it being this cold, this soon - didn't have time to acclimate. I just want to hibernate, didn't get to even wear the in-between cute coats, etc. Anybody else hating winter already? I used to like to stroll Old Town Alex., Fredericksburg, etc. over the Christmas season to see all the lights and decorations but I don't even want to think about it now. Sadly, I think the local shops will be losing some money this holiday season due to the weather.

Well, the good news is that the weather around here swings wildly. It's supposed to be 54 degrees on Sunday which is pretty normal. It could end up being 70 degrees on Christmas Day. One can never predict around here.

I HATE HATE HATE this cold. I didn't even leave the house yesterday. Today we ventured out, and it was a bit better as it wasn't as windy. But we were at a store near a playground we like, and I was bummed we couldn't go. I'm taking the kids to Florida in a couple of weeks, and I cannot wait. I might even scout out some jobs and homes while I am there. :-) I hate the winter so much.

I'm hating the weather too and I'm hot natured! I got a puppy a couple of weeks ago and let's just say he quickly learned the phrase "MAKE IT SNAPPY!"

I haven't been thinking that it is that bad at all. Highs have been in the 30's (ok, so there has been a wind chill), and it has been sunny. Recess for the kids at school has been not bad at all this week and my son comes home and plays outside with the neighborhood kids until dinner.

(I grew up in NE Ohio, but have been in this area since '93).

Caladium, I just discovered the wonders of hot chocolate with a shot or two of peppermint schnapps. Yumm!

As for the cold--it sucks. I have skipped eating lunch a few days this week because it's just miserable walking across the parking lot from my office to my car (okay, it's a LONG parking lot...) I have zero desire to go do all the things I love on the weekends like go for a hike or take my dog to the dog park Can California's economy please get better so I can move back to where it's currently 70 degrees please?!?!

I had an agility trial with my dog last weekend that was technically not outside, I guess--but it was basically just inside a giant tarp/tent thing--so just as cold, just that wind was blocked. I spent the hours between our runs sitting in the car under a dozen blankets with the heater running, trying to stay warm. MISERABLE! I was crazy enough to sign up for the same thing this weekend--though I'm about to order a portable propane heater from Amazon to try and make it more bearable.
