Uh oh----if you have the same idea and I have the same idea...what does everyone else have? What time is your lunch? I'll leave an hour after that !

At 5 when I dropped hubby off at the commuter lot, we had alittle snow on the vehicles but it was raining. Now just drizzling.

This is just nuts, here in Stafford we are having finals week, it is drizzling, the schools called a 2 hour delay, we were supposed to be on a 2.5 hour early out for the middle and high school levels, now they will get out right as the snow is supposed to start with elementary still getting out at normal time. I don't understand these people. Either cancel school altogether or because the streets out there are okay start on time but do across the board 2.5 hour early out. Sorry for the rant they just make me nuts.

I am hoping the feds call it early so my hubby can get back home before 6 and the heavy snow starts. I cannot wait for warmer weather.

Well, i learned a valuable teacher lesson today in the midst of my student teaching. The proper order is "check windows, check school closures, THEN shower/dress/make lunch/gather papers/run out the door".

I woke up as usual and rushed around getting ready for school, opened the front door and realized I should probably check the website. Oh well. Lesson learned.

When we had that bad ice either last week or the week before, hubby forgot to check OPM, his bus was running as scheduled so there we were at 4:30 hacking the ice off the car, drove him to the commuter lot, then it turned out they were on a 2 hour delay. As you say "Oh well. Lesson learned."

Yeah, DH is making fun of me. I grew up in California, so this is my first snow day ever. He said to me this morning, "Come on, kids in this area are programmed from age 3 to check for school closures first thing in the morning! Don't your students teach you anything?"

One of my husbands co-workers told me "the first thing new green shirts need to learn is to check OPM." He has been stationed in S Texas and Southern New Mexico and they don't cancel work there. They are kinda like the post office they work no matter the weather. This has been a very new experience for both us and our kids.

My family in Vermont laughs at us here. Yes, they are certainly better equiped to handle the massive amounts of potential snowfall....but anything under 6" doesn't even need to be plowed. You can pack that snow right down with your car, even my corolla can do it!

Oh, that's too funny. I didn't expect them to close the schools, but I guess maybe the morning slush combined with what we are expecting this afternoon was what did it. I think if it was just the morning stuff, we would have just been late. If it was the afternoon stuff, they would have closed early.

It doesn't matter to me either way since my job goes by the Federal Government and they aren't closed.

I hope you enjoy your first snow. I lived in Southern California for a few years and I missed the snow (and I always felt sorry for California kids who never got to know the joy of a "snow day"). It's too bad this one seems to be mixed with ice, but on the bright side, it should be good packing snow for snowmen and snowballs.

IMO, it's mostly fear of what's coming this afternoon. The slush wasn't that bad this morning (at least not where I live).
