I am not complaining I asked a question. Have a great day (btw I do believe discrimination is wrong, but I do not believe in not obeying the law, until the law gets changed, if it gets changed.). I believe those convenant preventing your relatives from buying a house were terribly wrong. That does not make discrimination against other groups right.

I think it IS rude to ask a person about their attire unless you know them well - its none of your business.

AMEN. Thank you. For god's sake, there's this thing called Google. And another thing called simple courtesy.

(For the literalists here, let me point out the obvious--that "Hey, where'd you get that cool shirt?" is completely different from "Why do you people wear [headscarves, yarmulkes, scapulars, a mark on the forehead on Ash Weds.--etc.]?"

It was something like that "why do you people wear it like that". I was appalled. Hopefully it is an isolated incident. The Muslim lady's eyes were about to get out their sockets! Actually the other women touched the burqah (which was like a veil material)

And they, like my ancestors, learned to speak English

I can't even imagine asking someone such a question - I guess if the person questioned could have had time to think a response could have been something along the lines of "I'm not sure what "you people" means" - could you explain?)

When I asked a girl about her Muslim attire, she was my roommate's friend and was very approachable and friendly. I'm good friends with her now even. She started the conversation saying that fellow Muslim women talked about her behind her back because she wore different colored clothing, and I asked why she wanted to wear the different colored ones, and in the different style than the traditional clothing I've seen them wear. She laughed and said it's a part of her vibrant personality. I agreed with that! (I just wanted to clarify - I've never asked someone I don't know about their wardrobe! )

And to CarolVA- what are some good Hispanic markets around PWC? I've never been to Global Foods, but the international aisle in Giant is kind of lacking. I love HIspanic food and have been trying to find a good market. Thanks for your help!! Best of luck in PWC
