My wife and I really like the Springfield, VA area for the easy commute my wife will have on the DC metro to Faraguat(sp?) West station where her office is and the school system for our 7 and 3 year old. Not to mention it is in our price range.

I was wondering if there is anyone in the area, as I am up in South Jersey right now, who knows of any new townhouse communities? I am looking for 3+ bedroom under 300k.

Springfield is an older suburb that's mostly filled out. I don't believe there's any new townhouse developments in the area. If one were to pop up, it would certainly be more than 300k for a 3 bedroom.

There are older townhouses available in that price range though.

Nothing I am aware of less than about 15 yrs old. Newer townhomes adjacent to Springfield would be in the Lorton area, but even there they will have been previously-owned.

The Kingstowne / Island Creek area (west Alexandria) would be the "newest" parts of that area (aside from Lorton) and I doubt you would find anything in that price range. The newest areas of Kingstowne TH's are really $$. My street had a single car TH going for $499, and 2 car going for $569. And they are circa '96. There is a subdivision in Springfield proper (called Greenwood,) along Franconica Road, that backs to the Metro station in a short walk. They seem to have held up pretty well.

That was sort of what I had figured, but while I was looking at homes on the market with my realtor figured I would see if there was any new construction going on as well.

Thanks for all the input, looking forward to eventually moving down there.
