The drummer lived in Falls Church in the county, not the city, and he was with the Doobie Brothers in the "Black Water"/"Another Park, Another Sunday" era (pre-Michael McDonald). According to this Wiki article, he went to Stuart HS.

I would love to find out why it is Backlick Rd! We are under contract on a house with that address and plan to have a Backlick address for many years to come! Excited new Annandale resident coming this summer.

According to one source it was based on salt licks placed nearby by the Powhatan tribe to attract deer (hard to imagine now for a lot of suburbanites who want to keep the deer out of their yards ):
