Considering much of the news about worldwide politicians, I think they already do.

they predicted higher temps, not less snow. Amount of snowfall depends on precip patterns. Higher temps, we have seen.

I thought the amount of snowfall depended on how much you bribe the woolly bear!

No surprise these survive (sort of) in a Continental Subtropical climate. Guess what? The same result would have occurred 100 or 150 years ago. Here out West we actually have a small number of orchards producing plantains. They are of course limited to frost free (or nearly frost free) microclimates.

Global mean temperatures are on a rise. This is beyond dispute.

What is disputed is (1) whether this is man-caused or not, (2) whether the cures are worse than the disease and (3) how this will affect the weather in any given region, such as Northern Virginia.

The discussion reminds me of the short palm trees outside of Mango Mike's on Duke St. in Alexandria.

Actually the past few years especially since 2003, they've been more or less flat. There has been a shift to a negative phase Pacific Decadal Oscillation. The moment of truth will be sometime around 2020. Will the rise resume? We'll see.
