Los Gatos, Los Altos, Saratoga, Portola Valley, Woodside, Palo Alto. All very nice. The other cities you mentioned are quite congested. Fremont is in East Bay - very hot in summer and more suburban/removed from true Bay Area scene.

That being said--The Bay Area is DC without the extreme cold and heat. It also has a lot less mid-level, non-essential, government workers
. The restaurants are almost always a step above, and other forms of entertainment are better, also. K-12 is a step behind--but if you really want good public schools--go to Cupertino and pay $$$$. (San Ramon might be good, too).

. The restaurants are almost always a step above, and other forms of entertainment are better, also. K-12 is a step behind--but if you really want good public schools--go to Cupertino and pay $$$$. (San Ramon might be good, too).
