My wife has decided that she'd like to try to find an obstacle course training area so that she can participate in 5K Obstacle Course Zombie Race - Run For Your Lives in Pittsburgh next year. She is an avid jogger and is in good shape, but just wants to get some experience with obstacles, so I figured I would check here to see if anyone knew of any that would be convenient to Alexandria.

Don't know of any training courses, but if she's in OK shape, she should be OK for the event. I did Warrior Dash just recently (also a 5K with obstacles). I didn't do any running at all for training, and it was pretty easy. Women probably have a harder time with the upper-body stuff, though. So maybe you can suggest she do some pushups, pullups, etc. Maybe one-legged squats just to improve balance.

Locust Shade park in Triangle, VA has a exercise stations through the running trail. Some of the stations are in disrepair though.

Also I'm not sure how you feel about paintball, but it's a really good exercise especially if you're playing in the woods courses. You'll be climbing over wood logs and rocks , running up/down hills etc.

No zombies, but there's a parcourse toward the Mt Vernon end of the Mt Vernon Trail at Riverside Park (George Washington Memorial Parkway - Mount Vernon Trail (U.S. National Park Service)).
