My mother-in-law is coming into town on Wednesday. Her flight lands at 4:20 pm. My husband who works in Newington will be picking her up. Google says it is a 30 minute drive. It seems like an reverse commute but I have heard, and believe, those don't really exist out here! How much time should he really allow?

Anyone familiar with the JetBlue terminal? Is it easy to get into the airport and wait for passengers at baggage claim?

Thanks in advance for your help!

-Rainbow

I'd allow for an hour that time of day. It's possible to do 30 minutes but you never know. There is a cell phone lot to wait in. She will need to get her luggage then look at which door number she is exiting. He can then circle in and get her. Even if she can't find the door/exit number it's all a straight shot when he pulls up and seeing her is easy.

Picking up is easier than dropping off because there's no time pressure really. You drop off someone you have to make sure you get there at least 2 hours in advance, but picking up, if your'e late, no problem, they can just wait. I usually leave as little as 5 minutes before their arrival time and most times I'm actually early and have to wait at least a few minutes at the cellphone waiting area.

Thanks! The cell phone waiting area sounds perfect, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Also, does anyone have any idea how long it would take to drive back to Lake Ridge that time of day? I know it can be highly varied.

Thanks again, Rainbow

Probably an hour+ mainly because route 28 is horribly congested.

Arnt we supposed to have flying cars by now? That would be awsesome would'nt it? I remember when I was in elementary school way back when (in the 1990's) They claimed by now we would have them. We are so behind in times!

Nah, that's no good, even with flying cars, people will *still* be driving slow in the left lane here in VA

Not going to be a nice drive back to Lake Ridge that time of day. Another option is cutting through the town of Clifton to PW Pkway or FFX Pkway to 123. No easy way though.

Those left hand lane 45-50 mph drivers are one of the biggest contributors to the gridlock we experience. I travel 395 in to work and this morning as an example, we were behind a car in the far left lane that was topping out at 50 mph with multiple breaks for NO reason and the person in the middle lane was out for a Sunday drive at 45 mph.. Needless to say, it caused a big problem as regular drivers tried to get around these hazards...
